Treat Yourself To New Decking In Abingdon

26 Jul 2021

Summer might be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad tie to invest in new decking for your garden! With the high chances of an Indian summer and a milder winter you will still be wanting somewhere you can sit outside and enjoy the milder weather, so why not look at a new decking?

Replacing Old Decking

Have you already got decking in your garden? Over time you may have noticed that your decking n longer feels quite so sturdy, especially as it starts to age, or if it’s left untreated for a number of years. This might mean it’s time to be out with the old and in with the new.
When you are looking to replace your decking there are two main choices to make; are you keeping the existing frame and are you keeping the same shape?
If you are hoping to keep your original framework we will need to ensure that it is still in a good condition to last the lifetime of new decking. If you are unsure, please get n touch and we will be happy to come and check this for you before any decking is ordered.
If you are looking to change the shape of your deck, you are better off investing in a new frame entirely so that some parts aren’t more worn than others. Changing the shape of your decking can have a massive impact on the appearance of your entire garden, even if it’s only a minor change.

Decking From Nothing

If you are looking at having decking installed where there has been no previous decking, we may need to look at doing some groundwork beforehand to ensure that your new decking has the best standing moving forward. This may include creating a hardstanding below your new decking. This will help to give your frame a solid foundation and can help to reduce the weeds that grow under your decking with can potentially cause damage to your decking over time.
When installing decking from nothing you have complete freedom to choose your size and shape as the ground will require work regardless. If you are concerned about the size and shape having an impact on the rest of your garden, look at marking out the area and looking out across the rest of your garden. This should give you a good indication of how imposing the decking will be.
Our team have installed a number of deckings across different sized gardens, so if you are unsure, speak to our team who will be happy to discuss what we think would work in your space.

If you are looking at investing in new decking this summer, please get in touch with a member of the team here at Abingdon’s and we will be happy to help. Compliment your new decking with a new lawn or even a complete garden relandscape.
